MUSON LR OPTICAL SYSTEM

Developed by Opticoelectron and integrated within the HADES Sensing & Surveillance portfolio, the MUSON LR (Multi-Use Surveillance Optical Network, Long Range) is an advanced electro-optical observation system for long-range detection, identification and tracking of aerial, ground and maritime targets. The system combines a cooled MWIR thermal camera, a high-definition daylight camera and an integrated laser range finder within a single stabilised Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) platform.

Designed for continuous operation in demanding environments, the MUSON LR delivers reliable situational awareness in all lighting conditions, including complete darkness. By combining thermal detection, optical identification and precise ranging capabilities, the system enables operators to detect, classify and track targets at extended distances while maintaining exceptional image quality and operational effectiveness.

The system incorporates a highly sensitive cooled MWIR thermal sensor paired with a powerful long-range zoom lens, providing superior detection performance against aerial, ground and maritime targets. The integrated Full HD daylight camera offers high-resolution visual identification capabilities, while an eye-safe laser rangefinder with a range of up to 20 kilometres supports accurate target ranging and enhanced situational awareness.

The MUSON LR features a fully stabilised 360° continuous pan-and-tilt mechanism and supports advanced intelligent functions including automatic target tracking, object classification, perimeter protection and intelligent video analytics. Open architecture interfaces and standard communication protocols allow seamless integration with command-and-control systems, radar networks, sensor fusion environments and existing security infrastructures.

Within the HDS NEXUS ecosystem, the MUSON LR acts as the long-range optical identification layer, complementing HADES HAWK, EAGLE and Passive RF sensing systems. Following radar or RF detection, the system can be automatically cued to provide visual confirmation, target classification and persistent tracking of drones, aircraft, vehicles and personnel. This enables operators to move from initial detection to positive identification within a single integrated operational picture.

The MUSON LR is ideally suited for the protection of critical infrastructure, military installations, airfields, border regions, coastal zones and strategic assets. The system can be deployed on fixed towers, observation posts, mobile platforms, vehicles and mast-based surveillance networks, operating either as a standalone surveillance asset or as part of a federated multi-sensor architecture.
