EAGLE radar in mid-range Counter-UAS configuration

EAGLE Radar

Mid-Range / 4D PULSE AESA Radar

The HADES EAGLE radar is a compact, mobile 4D mid-range surveillance radar for Counter-UAS, air surveillance and integrated air defence operations. With extensive surveillance coverage and high simultaneous target capacity, the EAGLE radar provides reliable detection, tracking and classification of drones, loitering munitions, helicopters, aircraft, vehicles and other low signature targets.

The radar provides continuous airspace awareness, early warning, and target acquisition in complex operational environments. Its mobile design and robust performance enable deployment at fixed sites, vehicles, temporary installations, and critical infrastructure locations, delivering effective surveillance performance across urban, littoral, maritime, and combat environments for both military and security missions.

EAGLE radar for mid-range Counter-UAS and air surveillance

In the mid-range role, the EAGLE radar bridges the gap between short-range point defence and long-range surveillance. Its 4D AESA design simultaneously measures range, azimuth, elevation, and track, with an instrumental range of up to approximately 58 km and detection altitudes of up to 15 km. In Counter-UAS configurations, the radar detects targets with a radar cross-section of 0.01 m² out to approximately 12 km, enabling the detection of micro-UAVs and FPV drones well before their deployment range. Despite its compact size and an antenna weight of approximately 38 kg, EAGLE delivers performance typically associated with substantially larger radar systems.

Operational architecture

The EAGLE radar combines a software-defined architecture with a solid-state, GaN-based AESA transmitter, delivering high reliability, low maintenance requirements, and rapid operational deployment. With integrated local command and control capabilities, the system can operate fully autonomously as an independent operational sensor node.
Within HDS FUSION, the EAGLE radar functions as a mid-range sensor layer, delivering radar tracks for distributed sensor fusion, multidomain situational awareness, and a Common Operational Picture (COP). Thereby, the radar complements the short-range coverage of HAWK and the long-range coverage of EAGLE+ within a layered surveillance network.

Integration & interfaces

Built to an open architecture philosophy, the EAGLE radar integrates with third-party sensors, effectors, and command-and-control systems via standard protocols such as ASTERIX and SAPIENT. The radar supports deployment within Counter-UAS, air surveillance, and integrated air defence environments, including national and NATO-compliant operational networks, and can function both as a standalone radar and within an existing air defence architecture.
